9 Stroller Features to Look For
What stroller features should I look for when buying one?
A stroller is one of the major things you’ll buy for your baby. And picking out a stroller is not as easy as it looks. There is much information you’ll need to go over.
Here are some features that good strollers have:
1 – Adjustable Canopy
Most strollers come with a canopy.
Canopies protect your baby from the sun, wind, rain, UV rays, and various weather elements. It’s good to have an adjustable canopy especially when you love strolling around outdoors.
Before deciding on a stroller, open and close the canopy. See if it’s easy to adjust and it doesn’t make loud sounds.
There are some canopies that allow you to take a peek at your baby through a small window as you’re pushing it.
2 – Wheels and Tires
Bigger wheels offer more stability.
You’ll have three options for the tires: air-filled tires, foam-filled tires, and rubber-coated tires.
Rubber-coated tires are good only if you live in the city where most floor surfaces are smooth.
Air-filled tires and foam-filled tires give a smoother ride – even in unpaved paths. Or when you’re going at a fast pace.
3 – Shocks
Shocks can minimize the rocking your baby will feel when going through bumpy paths. This is especially important for newborn babies.
4 – Travel System
It comes with an infant car seat you can easily attach to the stroller. With this, you won’t wake your baby up when you need to move them to their stroller.
Plus, it costs cheaper when you buy them as a set (infant car seat and stroller), instead of buying them separately.
5 – Ease of Use
‘Test’ the stroller before deciding on one. Is it easy to open and fold? Can it fit in my car’s trunk? Can I maneuver it in one hand? Are the wheels running smoothly? Is it bulky?
These are some of the questions you need to ask when you assess the stroller.
6 – Brakes and Locks
Some strollers let you engage the lock and brakes from the handlebar. For others, it’s near the wheels so you can just step on it when your hands are full.
7 – Footrest
You’ll find this useful when your baby is growing older.
A footrest can give additional support for your baby’s calves. And they add length to the seat.
8 – Basket
When you have a baby, you’ll always have a lot of things to carry. You’ll find having a basket under the stroller is convenient. Just make sure it’s big enough to fit all your stuff.
9 – Seats
Many strollers have a seat you can use in different ways – bassinets, car seats, or you can turn them into double strollers. There are also some seats you can extend as your baby grows.
It’s also important that the seats are washable. Babies are expected to make a mess no matter how hard you try to prevent it.
So the seats should be washable and must be easy to remove.
